3rd International Symposium on Nanotechnology in construction, Prague (Czech Republic) May 31 – June 2 2009
In the construction sector, nanotechnology finds applications in main construction materials cement/concrete and steel, insulation systems, alternative energy resources and easy-to-clean surfaces. Over the last year the analysis has been focused on cement/concrete, steel, easy-to-clean floor tiles and sanitary ware and also windows.
Dr. Yanki Keles will present the actual and potential economic impacts of nanotechnology in the ‘construction sector’ that are analyzed within the EC funded FP7 project ObservatoryNANO together with VDI, in charge of evaluating the development of relevant (nano)technologies. This session will not only provide an overview on the drivers and barriers to incorporation of nanotechnology in construction applications, requirements of the industry but also give information on existing products on the market, expected growth rates, business and technology development strategies as well as levels of public and private funding.
