Irene Escolar
Irene Escolar works as a consultant for B&W in technology transfer and
innovation projects related to the environmental, urban planning and
construction sector as well as in the conceptualization and management of
public-private and interregional cooperation projects in broader fields.
What does most of her projects have in common? Innovation in the
triple-helix of university-industry-government interactions.
Irene started her professional career in the frame of private-public collaborative projects at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, where for two years she worked in the development of an award-winning decision-making tool for rationalising environmental practices in high voltage transmission lines for Red Eléctrica de España. From there she moved to the private sector where she worked at an Urban Planning Office prior to joining B&W in 2006.
Irene holds a MSc degree in Rural Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid with a specialization in Nature Conservation. She complemented her studies with a one-year stage at Wageningen University and Research Centrum (NL) where she specialized in Geographic Information Systems and Regional&Urban planning. She has travelled extensively across Europe and speaks English, French and Spanish. In her free time, Irene trains engineering students on how to improve their soft skills.
